NODDING
LAME HORSES SEEN AT AWAPUNI RIDERS FOR TOMORROW Special to THE SUN PALMERSTON IST., Today. There were at. least three horses showing signs of soreness at the conclusion of the work this morning. Hymestrason was a shade lame in front, but this was not unusual, and probably he will be all right on Thursday. Corneroff was also nodding a bit, but the trouble did not appear to be serious. Malahat had pulled up all right after his gallop, but was lame afterward. Blacksmith, who was due to figure in the Kiwitea Hunters’ Hurdles, will be compulsorily absent on Thursday, for when jumping in company with Llyn Du yesterday morning he crashed through the hurdle, turning a somersault. The rider, a stable apprentice, escaped serious injury. Blacksmith changed hands at a big figure and it will be unfortunate if the injuries prove as serious as is feared. The Riders Biding engagements announced are as follow: H. Gordon.—Skyrider. A. E. Stratton.—Archeria. A. McGregor.—Plying Swift. R. G. Miles.—Dobbin and Mandate. T. Metcalfe. —Robbie’s Mistake and Desert Lad (second day). C. Rob inson.—Hymestrason, Poppy Day and Evening Hero. W. Broughton.—Wallaruli and Pythis (second day). A. McDonald. —Corneroff, Llyn Du and Blue Paper. C. Broughton.—Moutoa Treasury. T. Green.—Duellona, Otairi, Malahat and Coon Song. A. McDonald and C. Broughton will share the flat riding for Mrs. McDonald’s stable. The juvenile parade will be staged after the second race on Thursday.
