VAGRANTS OVERWHELM CHINESE CITY GUNBOATS AID REFUGEES United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 10.15 a.m. SHANGHAI, Mon. The Communist menace has developed to an alarming extent in the Kiangsi and Hunan provinces during the last few days. Vagrant bands suddenly coalesced forming a well-disciplined and wellequipped army of 10,000 strong, which is reported to have captured Nanchange, the capital of the Kiangsi Province, and is advancing to within 15 miles of Kiukiang, a holiday resort of foreigners. British, American and Japanese gunboats are helping'in evacuating the nationals from Changsha, 25 miles away, at which point Government troops severely defeated the Communists.
