WATCHING EGYPT
WARSHIPS HELD READY * AT RIOT CENTRE BRITAIN’S FIRM HAND Reed. 1 p.m. RUGBY, Monday. The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. H. Dalton, replying to a question in the House of Commons, said owing to the disturbances at those ports the warship Ramillies had proceeded to Port Said and H.M.S. Waterhen to Suez. The Queen Elizabeth remains at Alexandria. Replying to other questions on the subject of Egypt, Mr. Dalton said that in view of the ultimate responsibility for the protection of foreign lives and liberty in Egypt, and the danger to public order which had manifested itself the Government considered it necessary to hold strictly to account tho leaders of both parties in the present constitutional conflict in Egypt. The Government’s communication was intended by dealing in a practical manner with the situation to make this unmistakably clear.
