STRAND
“OFFICER O’BRIEN” “Officer O’Brien." at the Strand Theatre, is the story o£ a young policeman who has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant as a reward for tho arrest of Mike Batello, notorious gang leader, on the charge of murder. Tho only witness against Patello is Johnny Dale, a young policeman, who witnessed the shooting. Ruth Dale, sister of Johnny, is in love with ’ O’Brien. Fearing that Patelio’s gang will get her brother if he testifies, she pleads with Bill not to allow the boy to testify. Dale won’t listen to this. Be takes the stand, and as he is I about to name Patello as the murderer he is mysteriously shot through tho back. Patello. with the only witness out of the way, is released. But O’Brien, who is sure Patello inspired the shooting of Dale, starts out after him in earnest. His campaign is suddenly checkmated when Patello learns that Bill’s own father is a crook and has pulled a jewellery store robbery. Tho Strand’s programme also includes a number of shorter talkies.
