Obituary
MR. F. J. DARGAVILLE EX-MATOR OF DARGAVILLE One of the best known men in the district, Mr. Frank J. Dargaville, eldest son of the late Mr. J. M. Dargaville, founder of the town, and after whom Dargaville is named, died after a very brief illness today. Mr. Dargaville was formerly Mayor of Dargaville, chairman of the Hobson County Council, and at the time of his death president of the Dargaville Racing Club. Hobson Acclimatisation Society and an active member of the Golf Club, Bowling Club, Chamber of Commerce and many other institutions. He was a keen supporter of all openair sport arid a most liberal donor of trophies for cricket, running, football, bowling and tennis. lie was a staunch supporter of the Church of England, and only recently presented the church with a very fine pipe-organ. He lived in Dargavillo practically all his life, and had done much for it. Mr. Dargaville was a strong supporter of the Reform Party, anrl for some years was chairman of the Rt. ITon. J. G. Coates’s election committee. Pie is survived by his widow, two daughters, one brother and four sisters.
