HERD TESTING
WORK OF N.Z. ASSOCIATION Substantial expansion is recorded by tile New Zealand Co-operative Herd-testing Association in its report for the year ended May 31. In a review of tho past year, the chairman of the association, Mr. Dynes Fulton, states that the directors, after carefully examining: the financial position of the association, and taking Into account the fact that the association has had a successful season, decided to make a reduction in the testing charges for all herds consisting of less than 50 cows. The following scale of charges has accordingly been fixed for the ensuing season:—* Herds consisting of 50 cows and over, a herd fee of £5, plus 3s a cow (same as last season). Herds consisting of less than 50 cows, a herd fee of £2 10s, plus 4s a cow, with a minimum charge of £ 6 10s. Herds under the alternate system, a herd fee of £2 10s, plus 3s a cow (the s.-imo as last season). ASSOCIATION AVERAGES The following figures setting out the association’s averages since the inception show the steady progress which has been made. It is necessary to point out that from and including the 1927-28 season, every cow, whether class A or class B, in milk for 100 days or more, has been included in the final herd averages. Prior to that season, however, class B cows were excluded from tho final figures, and only normal cows taken into account. It is interesting to note that the past season is the first occasion on which the association’s average has reached tho pound of butter-fat every day: S?„ a „ b ' o „'’‘ Tested. Lib. Fat.
