BRITANNIA, THREE LAMPS
An entirely new Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell are revealed at the Britannia Theatre in “Sunny Side Up,” Fox Movietone musical comedy. MisaiGaynor. who reveals a voice of rare charm, sings three songs, including “If I Had a Talking Picture of You,” the latter as a duet with Charles Farrell. Farrell., in the role of a society man, acquits himself creditably in a light comedy part, and sings in a manner that stamps him as a real find in the talking picture musical comedy field.
As a result of radio appearances together, a new talking picture comedy team has been evolved, namely Polly Moran and Benny Rubin. Their duo clowning went over so big with the air audiences that they have been paired to appear in “The March of Time,” Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s big new eye and ear show. Interestingly enough, their skit portrays a radio station in a penitentiary, Station P.E.N.
