SHARP EARTHQUAKE FELT WORST SINCE CHRISTMAS Press Association WESTPORT, Friday. Preceded by a terrific boom, the most severe earthquake since last Christmas was experienced at Westport at 8.42 p.m. today. People left their homes and ran into the streets, but so far as Gan be gathered no damage of consequence occurred. SHOCK AT GREYMOUTH Press Association GREYMOUTH, Friday. A very sharp earthquake shock was experienced at Greymouth at 8.40 p.m. today. The direction of approach was from the north. No damage occurred but a considerable amount of alarm was caused. LASTED ONE MINUTE Press Association WELLINGTON, Friday. The secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department at 'Wellington has received advice from the chief postmaster at Westport concerning the earthquake this evening. It states that the shock lasted about one minute and was preceded by >a loud rumble. The tremor was felt also at Karamea, but no damage had been reported anywhere.
