This is the same sort of work as he was given 12 months ago before being taken to Riccarton for the Winter Cup. For the Final Day While he has been allowed to drop out of the approaching Winter Cup. Historic may be taken South and raced on the last day of the C-J.C. fixture. Ho has come on quickly in the last fortnight and should not be long in returning to the winning listMr. C. Boyle’s horses. Rational li and Rasouli. both worked nice half and the same may be said of Arikinui, who is in good fettle and ready for early spring racing. A novice jumper who is showing promise at Trentham is Roi de VaL Diana’s Lad’s Recovery Diana’s Lad is back in work and he schooled proficiently this week. The Wellington Racing Club proposes to proceed shortly with the erection of additional stalls in the saddling paddock. Possibly, too, a parade ring, similar to that at Riccarton, will be constructed. Silvermine again is in work on the tracks at Haw era and will come to hand quickly. He likes a soft track so may be looked for in the spring. Concentrate’s Fair Effort Concentrate, accompanied by King Musket, ran half a mile in 52 3-5, a very fair effort. Concentrate rolled , into his work in rare style. Morris, who is free to accept an outside mount since Historic has been allowed to drop out of the race. McLaughlin has still another horse engaged in the Winter Cup, Tourist, who ran a nice half mile in 52§. No rider has bee'n engaged for Tourist, who with a good horseman aboard will have a very good chance in the big mile. In Great Heart Matu was restricted to work on the flat yesterday. He got through it really well and will be in great heart for the Grand National Steeplechase. H. B. Lorigan’s team is to sail for Sydney on August 15.
