The Normiston gelding should have a useful season in front of him. + * * The Man o’ War mare Man o’ Belle has joined the active list, and owner Whitten is attending to her prepara-

This pacer later on should pay her way on the country Warplane continues to work pleasingly, and Jack Shaw's charge, who leaves for the South next week, should give a good account of himself off the front of the ten-furlong Selwyn Handicap. * * * Lady Ena is back among the “working brigade” and the daughter of First Voyage looks hale and hearty after the spell. This mare only requires to trot solidly for owner Hill to get a prize. * * # A youngster that is creating a favourable impression at Alexandra Park is the two-year-old son of Worthy Bond—Haricot. A. J. Julian has the Derby candidate stepping out nicely, and he is looked upon as one of the loeal hopas for tha Christmas classic. * * * J. Shaw is busy with two wellgrown juveniles which claim Worthy Bond as their sire and that consistent mare Florrie Bingen as their dam. The t.wo-year-old has a fine style of trotting and the yearling, also as big as hia sister, looks like favouring the same gait. After a brief respite, S. August has put the gallant little Jewel Pointer in work again. The Logan Pointer horse will not be hurried in his preparation and may not be required for racing till the Auckland Christmas carnival. W. Lincoln has decided to put Kingselere in toil once more and the Advance gelding Idoks well after his let-up. This pacer promises to develop staying powers in the new season and should get some money for his painstaking owner- trainer.
