What is probably tie quaintest town hall in Europe is that of Newtown, a tiny hamlet in the Isle of Wight, not far from Newport. Newtown consists of only a few cottages and has a very small population. y?t only a few years ago this tiny community sent a member to Parliament. The town hill is still standing. It is overgrown with greenery, the steps are covered with moss and the door is rusted through. The place is the abode of rat* and mice. The hamlet had one inn, composed of three cottages joined together, which were inhabited by the descendants of one family for 2M years. A few years ago the licenea was withdrawn.
