CRUSHED TO DEATH
YOUNG MAN KILLED WHEN CAR SKIDS WOMAN PASSENGER HURT Press Association WANGANUI, Wednesday. A fatality occurred on the AucklandWellington highway, 12 miles on tile Hawera side of Wanganui, this afternoon, when a five-seater touring car skidded. It left the road and overturned. The driver, Mr. Reuben Allan Ben brook, employed at Hawera, whose parents live at Wanganui, was thrown beneath the vehicle as it turned, and was killed instantly. He received the full weight of the car about the head and shoulders. A young woman whose name is not known was a passenger, also a man whose name is believed to be Nelson. A strand of tpneing wire held the car off the young woman, probably saving her life. She received severe injury to her legs, but she was able to travel by a passing service-car to Hawera. , It is understood that the other passenger was not hurt. Medical aid and an ambulance were summoned from Wanganui, but on arrival the passengers had left the scene of the accident. Mr. Benbrook was a single man, 21 years of age.
