BY-ELECTION IN SOUTH
WRIT TO BE ISSUED TOMORROW POLLING ON AUGUST 13 Press Association. WELLINGTON, Today. The Minister in Charge of the Electoral Department, the Hon. H. Atmore, announced today that the writ for the Invercargill by-election would be issued tomorrow. Nominations close on Friday, August 1, and polling day will be Wednesday, August 13. It seems likely that the by-election for filling the Western Maori seat may be deferred for some little time, documentary evidence of the death of Sir Maui Pomare being still awaited from California. The election will probably be delayed until after the funeral in New Zealand.
