PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD
A recommendation from the Papatoetoe Chamber of Commerce received at the meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board last evening, that the footpaths in the business area should be flagged with concrete, was referred to the Works Committee for report. The president of the chamber reported that it was intended to canvass the owners of the shops, with a view to their contributing to the flagging of their frontages, if the board would consider contributing half the cost. On receipt of a report from the Parks Committee regarding the lay-out of the reserve at the junction of Wyllie Road aPd Station Road, it was decided that the board inspect the grounds on Wednesday A recommendation from the \Vorks Committee that the. reserve be kerbed and channelled in boxed concrete at an estimated cost of £27 for labour, was adopted. Mr. Sorensen again urged the necessity of having the permanent levels of the district taken. Mr. A. W. Hall, M.P. for Hauraki, advised that Cabinet had authorised the expenditure of £7OO for alterations to the Papatoetoe Post Office, and that tenders would be called in the near future. The town clerk reported that the general account was in debit £2.056. Messrs. Nicholson and Franklin were appointed delegates to attend a conference of representatives from local bodies, called by the Auckland City Council, to consider the location of a site for an airport tor Auckland.
