COLLISION AT OPOTIKI

CAR PASSENGERS INJURED from Our Own Correspondent OPOTIKI, Tuesday. A collision occurred at the intersection o£ Ford and Nelson Streets, Opotiki, this afternoon, resulting in two people being injured. Mr. R. T. Wells, farmer, of Woodlands, was driving into town when he met a fish delivery van driven by Mr. C. Lingman, who was driving out of town, along Nelson Street. The car struck the rear portion of the van, both vehicles capsizing. Owing to the stormy weather both vehicles had their curtains up, and this saved the occupants from being thrown to the road. Mrs. Wells, who was accompanying her husband, received an injury to one shoulder and shock, her husband also suffering shock. The driver of the van escaped with shock. Mr. A. Litchfield, a passenger in the van, received cuts on the head from the broken glass. Both vehicles were fairly extensively ramaged. Mrs. Wells will be admitted to the hospital tomorow for an X-ray examination.
