COMING-OF-AGE IS CELEBRATED
NORTHCOTE PARTY
A twenty-first birthday was celebrated on Monday evening in the Palais Theatre, Northcote, when Mr. and Mrs. W. Burfoot, of Queen Street. Northcote, gave a party for their daughter Doris. The theatre was decorated with streamers, balloons and shaded lights. During the evening dancing was indulged in, the music being supplied by the Merrymakers* Orchestra. Games and competitions were interspersed with dancing. Mrs. TV. Burfoot received the guests wearing a frock of cinnamon brown crepe georgette. Miss Doris Burfoot wore a frock of green spotted net over satin. Miss M. Burfoot was wearing jade green crepe de chine and georgette. Among those present were: Mrs. TV. TVatSon, who wore peach taffeta; Mrs. D. Keed (Palmerston .North), floral chenille georgette; Mrs. Crawshaw, figured rayon silk and ninon; Mrs. T. TV. Hewitt, floral silk crepe; Mrs. Alf Hurley, senr., black crepe de chine; Mrs. Duncan Taylor, blue crepe de chine; Miss E. Hewitt, floral satin; Miss Hsme Grenfell, pink satin with gold trimmings; Miss Jean Stayte, rose pink crepe de chine •with apple green bow; Miss B. Stayte, shell pink georgette and silver; Miss Florence Turbott, ankle-length frock of trilled satin and georgette; Miss Bulla Taylor, powder blue crept- de chine ami silver lace; Miss X. Hood, totem red lace and georgette; Miss T. Spinks, paleblue satin; Miss Thomas, plum taffeta and gold trimmings; Miss E. Sutcliffe, apricot crepe de chine; Miss A. Thomas, blue and silver tinsel with overdress of blue net. Miss Florence Connor, in red satin with overdress of red net: Miss p. Stayte, pink tinsel and frilled net; Miss J. Infield, embossed flounced satin; Miss Klva Shields, blue satin ami embossed net flouncings- Miss It. Shields, pink georgette and satin; Miss B. Black, floral ninon; Miss Irene Mackie, green floral satin; Miss Z. Clare, cream floral silk net over apricot satin; Miss G. King, floral silk crepe; Miss Kileen Munro. lemon crepe de chine; Miss E. Crawshaw, coral pink moire velvet and silk net frills: Miss P. Bruce, delphinium blue satin; Miss PI. T.ythgo, apple green satin; Miss M. Chappell, apricot georgette and taffeta; Miss V. Sutcliffe, black crepe de chine and black lace; Miss Ivy Birt. sky blue crepe de chine and lace; Miss Mavis Sceats. ivory crepe de chine and lace; Miss Mary Munro, floral chiffon and lace; over gold brocade; Miss Marjorie Smyth (Wellington), pale pink crepe de chine and lace; Miss C. Morgan, amber satin.
AVONDALE CROQUET CLUB - Tho following were presented with rizes at the annual meeting of the tip. Miss Waldron, runner-up Mrs. vondale Croquet Club:—A championotter; B championship, Mrs. Marshall, inner-up Mrs. Cardale; handicap ngles, Miss Waldron, runner-up Mrs. odgson: handicap doubles. Mrs. Ixier and Mrs. Hanham.
The following officers were elected President, Mrs. Exler; vice-president!
