EARLY MORNING FIGHT
NO PENALTY FOR YOUTHS
As they had little chance of paying fines, Clarence James Parkinson and Charles Olsen were convicted and discharged at the Police Court today on a charge of fighting. Parkinson and Olsen, 21 and Siyears of age, described as labourers and residents of the City Shelter, were charged with fighting in Wellesley Street at 6.45 o'clock this morning. They pleaded guilty. “Fined £ 1 each or three davs.” said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Sub-Inspector Shanahan: There isn’t any chance of them paying their fines.
“Bring them back again,” said Mr Hunt.
“I don’t want, to send you to gaol,” he said. “If yotl both promise to be peaceable in the future, I’ll convict and discharge you.” Both men said, “Yes, sir,” and left the dock with broad smiles.
