WOMEN AND CHILDREN
REPORT TO EXECUTIVE The monthly report presented to the committee of the New Zealand Society for the Protection of Women and Children revealed that 59 new case* had been dealt with. 20 of which concerned husbands and wives, five children. 19 various, and eight affiliation cases. Several old cases had also been handled. Office interviews numbered 431. and the inspector had made 180 visits to homes, attended the Magistrate's Court 11 times, and the Children’s Court five times. Maintenance money to pass through the society amounted to £3oS 5s 6d. The society’s field of activity is becoming very extensive, and its work is considered an essential part of Auckland’s social welfare. The women’s committee has been organising bridge parties and other functions. A stall was arranged at the Winter Exhibition, and an art union is being run in connection with it. A dance had been arranged by Miss Spencer in aid of the society’s funds.
