NOT DOING MUCH
PAIR UNDER W. HAWKINS Visitors to Ellerslie again arc* the two horses being prepared by W. H. ' Hawkins —Gay Cockade and Marble Mount, who are accomplishing nothing better than easy work at present. Usually these horses do a lot of sound work on the roads and are brought to headquarters for the final polish, a scheme which is under way on this occasion, for they are due to race at the Pakuranga Hunt meeting at the end of next month. Marble Mount will be a candidate for hunters' events, and although lie has fared moderately to date perhaps improvement will be shown when he becomes solid. Gay Cockade may not bear up under winter weights, but it is in his favi our that he is thoroughly at home i under winter conditions. TEAM OF SEVEN J. BUCHANAN’S LOT Trainers at this time of the year have few horses in work, but J. M Buchanan’s lot comprise seven, including a couple of rising two-year-olds. viz., Hawthorn (Lucullus—Little Flower), who is owned by his trainer, and a Tea Tray—Volopia youngster, which is held in the interests of Mr. C. M. Emanuel. The older horses worked regularly are Brampton. Respirator, Xeil. Patutahi and Principal. WINTER cup DON QUIXOTE OUT CHRISTCIIURCI-I, Today.
