ARAPUNI POSITION
OVERSEAS EXPERT TO REPORT NAMES BEING CONSIDERED From Our Own Correspondent CHRISTCHURCH, Today. The Government’s proposal to bring a hydro-electric engineering expert to New Zealand to report on the Arapuni scheme will be adhered to, according to a. statement made yesterday by the Prime Minister, the Hon. G. V/. Forbes. The report will be considered before any more money is spent on the scheme. “We have been in touch not only with our representative in Canada, but with Britain, through the High Commissioner/’ said Mr. Forbes. •'lnquiries have been made in Britain and the names of eminent hydroelectric engineers have been submitted to us. We shall shortly make our selection and arrange for the engineer to come and report .on the whole scheme before any further work is done. The Government has definitely decided on this. “In the meantime data are being prepared so that no time will be lost when the engineer does arrive. A geological survey and an inspection of the whole area are still going on.”
