Obituary
MRS. S. J. COOPER The death has occurred at Buckland of Mrs. Sarah Jane Cooper, who came to New Zealand with her father, a veteran of the Crimean War. She spent most of her life in the Auckland Province. Mrs. Cooper is survived by a family of five boys and five girls. MR. E. A. JAMES Mr. E. A. James, who died at Wellington yesterday at the age of 71, was well known in political circles. Ho was one of the founders of the Reform Party, and from 1913 until his retirement last year was general secretary of the New Zealand Political Reform league. A journalist by profession. Mr. James worked in England and Australia, and then came to New Zealand, where he was associated with various papers. Mr. James is survived by his wife, two sons, and ono daughter. Speaking of the death of Mr. James, the Right Hon. J. G. Coates. Leader of the Reform Party, said the party had suffered a severe loss by the death of a man who had worked for man/ 3*ears in its interests
