DENIAL UNAVAILING From Our Own Correspondent TE AROHA, Friday. Refusing- to assure Mr. F. W. FlaCts, S.M., that he would refrain from molesting Mary Maud Wallis and bind himself over to the peace, Edward Whitehead was today sentenced to a month’s imprisonment on a charge of being .a rogue and a vagabond and of being found on enclosed premises. Wallis said accused’s drinking and cruel habits forced her to leave him after an association extending to 13 years. He had broken into her apartments and later assaulted her in an alleyway. Whitehead denied everything and refused to answer a question from Constable Monson concerning the number of drunken brawls he bad started. The magistrate believed the police witnesses and sent Whitehead to Mount Eden for a month.
