CHURCH IS DECORATED WITH HYDRANGEAS AND LOVELY ARUM LILIES
WELLS—NEWBEGIN At St. Matthew’s Church on Wednesday afternoon the marriage was celebrated of Miss Marjorie Isobel Newbegin, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Newbegin. of Vauxhall Road, Devonport, and Mr. E. E. Wells, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Wells, of Vancouver Avenue, Sandringham. Tiie ceremony was conducted by Canon Grant Cowen. The church was beautifully decorated with hydrangeas and bowls of arum lilies. Given away by her father, the bride wore a bridal gown of cream ring velvet with a close-fitting corsage and long sleeves cut in points over the hands. The skirt, which was gathered to one side under a velvet bow, was ankle length at the back and was caught on one hip with a diamenle ornament. Her veil of embroidered net was held in place with a cap of fine point lace and sprays of orange blossom were arranged at each side, and she carried a bouquet of white flowers. The matron of honour, Mrs. i,. A. Wilson, sister of the bride, and the bridesmaid, Miss I.ucy Saxon, wore frocks alike of apple green georgette, with coatees of beige lace piped with green and caught on the shoulders with posies of georgette flowers. They wore beige hats, trimmed with corded ribbon and a diamente clasp in front,
and they carried bouquets of shaded pink and lemon flowers respectively. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. lan Lower and Mr. Harold Newbegin was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Domain Tea Kiosk, where Mrs. Newbegin received the guests, wearing a frock of navy georgette and satin beaute relieved with an embroidered gold and wine-sbaded panel. She wore a hat of burgundy velour, and skunk furs, and she carried a posy of carnations. Mrs. Wells had on a black seal coat over a frock of navy crepe do chine, with a black hat trimmed with autumn shaded- flowers. Her bouquet was of autumn-tinted flowers.
