HEAT IN NORTH-WEST

Reed. 9.25 a.m. CHICAGO, Thursday. There has been a weather and crop scare in the American and Canadian North-west, giving farmers and wheatholders more courage, and making it uneasy for bears, many of whom are short. Temperatures of 100 and 105 in South Dakota, with no rains, are combined with black rutft. A crop deterioration is noted by the Government’s weekly weather report, and unfavourable conditions in Western Canada are producing a change in the sentiment of local traders and commissioners.
