LAMBETH CONFERENCE WILL SIT FOR A MONTH PRIMATE’S OPENING ADDRESS LONDON. Tuesday. The Lambeth Conference, which is attended by 300 bishops from man'' nations, will sit in private for a month. The Primate, Dr. Cosmo Gordon Lang, is presiding. Preliminary services were held, one on Saturday in Canterbury Cathedra], where the Primate delivered an address of greeting to the delegates, and the official opening service yesterday morning in St. Paul’s Cathedral. In his address on Saturday, Dr. Lang conveyed his ideas on the future of the Church, which he defined as a community of free and self-governing churches. He referred to the subject of church unions in South India, and predicted an autonomous position for the missionary dioceses.
