STONES ON THE RAZORBACK

CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS The Razorback hills present many difficulties to inexperienced drivers. They form one of the steepest gradients to be found on any of the main arterial routes in the North Island and the liberal surfacing of loose metal which has been a feature of the road surface for some considerable time, does not facilitate the negotiation of this part of the highway with a lowpowered car. Vehicles which are not in the best mechanical order often stall on the hill and large stones are placed behind the back wheels to prevent them from running backward while minor repairs are effected. A.A.A. patrols are constantly removing these stones end throwing them back to the side of the road. Besides being a nuisance, in many cases they present a decided menace and an appeal is therefore made to road users generally to exercise a little consideration for fellow motorists and if it has been found necessary to resort to the use of stones, to take the trouble to remove these from the road when moving off.
