45 TO GO FROM HUTT WORKSHOPS RAILWAYS ANNOUNCEMENT Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. ! The Minister of Railways, the Hew. W. A. Veitch.. announced today that a i number of men are being disnusaad from the Hutt railway workshops. It is understood 45 will suffer. A resolution was carried unanimously at a mass meeting of the Hutt railway workshop employees yeeterday, registering an emphatic protest against dismissing railwaymen while no other provision for employment was made for them. POSITION IN AUCKLAND DEPUTATION TO M.P. WORK NOT COMPLETED Mr. W. J. Jordan. M.P., vras met on I arrival from Wellington this mornling by a party of employees from ths Otahuhu Railway Workshops, who inI formed him that approximately 50 men have received notice to urminat* their j employment at the workshops on July ! 11. Mr. Jordan was informed that some of th© men had been employed for i more than 12 years, and had ©ontii- ! buted to the superannuation fond. 1 while others of them were recently ' employed. They stated that th© work ! upon which they were engaged is not [ completed. i Mr. Jordan has communicated with the Minister of Railways, asking , whether the rolling stock is in danger i of being neglected by the reduction of staff, .and requesting that considerai tion be given to our citizens, who axe ! forced into facing poverty and loss of • their homes.
