In the semi-final of the women’s singles, Miss Ryan beat Fraulein Ausem, 6—3, o—6, 4—4. The loser retired. Miss Helen Wilis beat Madame Mathieu, 6—3, 6—2. • In the fourth round of the mixed doubles Hopman and Mmlle. Sigart beat Miki and Miss Thomas. 6 —4, 6 —4. In the fifth round Cochet and Miss Whittingstall beat Hopman and Mmlle. Sigart, 7—5, 9—7. Crawford and Miss Ryan beat Mangin and Miss Palfrey, 6—4, 6—2. In the match between Miss Xtyan and Fraulein Aussem, the latter fell and fainted, and was carried off. It was found she had sprained iter ankle, and the match was awarded to Miss Ryan.
