Harris (Reform— Waitemata), when speaking in the House today “If something is not done, and done quickly, the revenue will fall away to zero. The imports will fall and there will be a depleted revenue. Already cancellations of imports arc taking place daily. It is time that the associated banks were made to toe the mark.” Mr. W. Lee Martin (Labour —Raglan) : We should have a State Bank. Mr. Harris said that New Zealand was supposed to have a semi-State bank. The matter was serious. He did not know why there should be any adverse rate between Empire countries. He suggested that New Zealand’s delegate to the Imperial Conference should take up the matter with the Imperial authorities.
