GERMS IN PLASTICINE
REPORT TO BE SECURED EDUCATION BOARD’S VIEWS Following a. recent statement by Dr. Herbert Chesson, District Health Officer, that plasticene is dangerous for use by school children, Mr. J. p. McPhail asked the chairman of the Auckland Education Board at a meeting yesterday if any official report had been received. Other members agreed that a report should be asked for from the Health Department. The secretary, Mr. D. XV. Dunlop, said h© understood that plasticene was dangerous only if used by several children. Individual supplies are issued at the beginning of the year and are kept in separate tins. He considered that supplementary readers, which are handled by everyone in a class, would be quite as dangerous, but no complaints bad ever been received. The issue of books from the Public Library would be even more likely to spread infection. Airs. V. Donaldson: Or the handling of pound notes.
Air. A. Burns: We are willing to risk that.
