MOUNT ALBERT EXTENSION
SUPPORT FROM COUNCIL “This seivi.e would pay from the time it starts running. Therefore the extra profits will benefit ratepayers throughout the city transport area,** said Mr. L. E. Rhodes, Mayor of Mount Albert, referring to the forthcoming 1-tar. proposal for the extension of the Mount Albert tram route, at the meeting of tlie borough council last evening. The council passed a. resolution endorsing and supporting the proposal, • n which a poll is to be taken on August 6. It was explained that rates should not be increased through the passing of the poll. Another local body representative on the Transport Board, Mr. H. R. Potter. showed apathy and even opposition to the proposal, said Cr. Carr. It was decided that, a letter be sent to Mr. Potter pointing out the advantages that would accrue from the extension and asking that Mr. Potter reciprocate ihe support given by the Mount Albert Borough when the Mount Eden extension was under consideration.
