Kenneth McCormick, M.R.C.S., England, on the cancer campaign. Air. McCormick said that he was a member of the British Empire Cancer Campaign. All public bodies were * represented on it. Auckland was Lie last part of New Zealand to move in tho subject and it behoved them to get to work. The sum aimed at was £25,000 from each of th*- four centres. The speaker believed that some : specific for the disease would be dis- * covered before long, but in the mean- ! time funds were wanted to check and treat it. Air. S>. H. Hay asked what it was in- j tended to do with the money. If it was going to be used for research only, th l ? movement would not be popular. Air. AlcCormick said he was not in favour of wasting the money on rcsearch. propaganda and treatment. Dr. J. W. C. Duncan said the campaign ought to have the support of the whole district. The Mayor thanked Air. McCormick for his interesting and informative talk and said Rotorua would not »k* behindhand in assisting. Air. McCormick also gave an address on the cancer campaign at the Rotorua Rotary Club’s weekly luncheon yesterday.
