TRAINING OF NORSES
REGISTRATION BILL MAY BE REINTRODUCED LEAVE TO EE SOUGHT TODAY THE HUE'S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Today. Leave to introduce again the Nurses and Midwifes Registration Amendment Bill is to lie sought today by the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy. The measure was hurriedly introduced last year, but was dropped in the closing days of the session. Afterward there was a good deal of protest from trained nurses’ organisations concerning the allowing ot private hospitals under the Bill to be classed as recognised training* institutions. Since the session, it is under stood, the Minister has had more than one conference with Trained Nurses' Association representatives and the Bill now drafted largely, if not entirely, meets all the objections of the association. It is stated that the provisions adequately cover the standard of train ing, state examination and registration and reciprocity between New Zealand and England. The last was a big source of objection with the association. It is understood that the minimum number of occupied beds that will be required in any private institution under the amending bill is 51).
