CHINESE AND NEGROES JOIN IN INDIA PROTEST PITCHED BATTLE IN NEW YORK NEW YORK, Saturday. Fifteen hundred Communists, including a number of unemployed seamen, negroes, Chinese, and Hindus, inflamed by addresses and a light between left and right wing speakers, attempted to march up from the Battery Park to the British Consulate to protest against British rule in India. The demonstrators were met by police reserves and a pitched battle ensued. Three policemen were injured and five of the Communists were badly hurt with police batons. Several arrests were made and the demonstrators were dispersed.
