YEAR'S PROGRAMME WILL COST £9,000,000 ALL REPLACEMENTS British Official Wireless RUGBY, Wednesday.. The First Lord of the Admiralty, M:; A. V. Alexander, announced in the House of Commons today the Government's naval construction programme for 1930, as follows: —- Three cruisers, all of the Sin guo type. A flotilla of destroyers, comprising one leader and eight destroyers. Three submarines. Four sloops, one net-layer and ;i target-towing vessel. Supplementary estimates, said Mr. Alexander, would be introduced for the small sum required to be spent in this financial year on these vessels. They were required to replace others which would have passed the age-limit and would enable the Royal Navy to carry out its current duties in time of peace. The programme had no relation to those of other Powers. The total approximate cost would be £9,000,000
