53,000 MILES RUN
WORLD’S ENDURANCE RECORD At the Avus Motor Track in Berlin l-ecently a Chrysler 65 broke the world’s endurance record by covering 53,711 miles without stopping the engine. The engine ran continuously for 69 days and 68 nights, and the distance covered represents more than twice the distance round tlie earth. Three crews of two men each, working in six hour shifts, did the driving, and when the car was stopped for brief periods to change the crew, take in water, oil or fuel, tlie engine was kept running. An average speed of thirty-one miles an hour was maintained. After the distance stated above had been covered, a blanket of fog descended, and the car, owing to poor visability, ran off the track, suffering some slight damage. The Chrysler ran in all kinds of weather. The engine, lubricated by the New Mobiloil, was, however, found to be in splendid condition.
The test was carried out before a large number of experts in the motoring industry.
