NATIONAL
“HER UNBORN CHILD” The National Theatre is presenting for a limited engagement, a talking picture version of one of the most remarkable plays ever written in the dialogue screen feature, “Her Unborn Child.” Presenting a totally “different” type of story, “Her Unborn Child” has been hailed as one of the most remarkable talkies made to date. Laid in a typical American home with extremely human and natural characters, the story deals with a tragic episode in the lives of a boy and girl who plunge headlong down the path of unguarded love, forgetful of the consequences. The> aftermath of youth's mistakes touches with tragic consequences the families of the principal characters, and the de-sper-ate, frenzied efforts of the boy and girl to a vert-impending disaster provide one of the most gripping, vividly dramatictalking pictures of the year. It has been aptly said that “Her Unborn Child” is a page tprn from life, brimming with pathos, drama and stark realism and the tinfoldment of its poignantly human story brings laughs and tears in equal number. The picture is embellished with a fine cast of stage and screen favourites, the leading roles being in the competent hands of such troupers as Adele Ronson, Paul Clare, Doris Rankin, Frances Underwood and Elisha Cook, jun., and has been directed by. Albert Ray with an intelligent understanding and skilful treatmentA full programme of short talkie featurettes is also being shown.
