MATRICULATION DISPUTE
TECHNICAL SCHOOL OPINIONS Press Association WELLINGTON. Today. The board of governors of the Wellington Technical College has taken a hand in the controversy over the matriculation examinations, though a definite resolution has been deferred to await the result of an advisory committee's inquiries. . Strong disapproval was expressed ol the practice of some employers in demanding a matriculation standard of technical pupils. Matriculation, it was contended, was a test of attainmentbut not of capacity, whereas the latter was the real test. The director of the college was in favour of the leaving certificate as against matriculation, lbsaid that that was the practice in England and that is was very satisfactory. .
