Winter Meeting at Te Awamutu

WAIPA CLUB’S ACCEPTORS The extra day’s permit allocated for the winter meeting of the Waipa Racing Club is to be availed of on Saturday week, June 28, when the club should stage a most successful fixture. The acceptances, which closed at 5 p.m today, qre as follow:

ASSISTING OWNERS TRANSIT EXPENSES PAID GISBORNE R.C. ENTERPRISE The Gisborne Racing Club will pay the steamer fare, one way only, from Napier or Auckland, on any horse accepting and starting at its meeting next month. Such an enterprise is to be commended and should achieve its object —attracting horses from far afield. The Gisborne Club’s Steeplechase meeting will be held on July 17 and 19. The programme is an attractive one. The principal event on the first day is the Gisborne Steeplechase Handicap of £2OO, about three miles, while the Winter Oats, 31 miles, is worth £l6O, the Flying Handicap, six furlongs, £l5O, the Park Hurdles, 12 miles, and the Tramway Hack Steeplechase, two miles, each £l4O. The other events on the first day are; Maiden Race of £IOO, five furlongs, and Hack Flat Handicap of £l3O, six furlongs. The second day’s programme caters equally well both for jumpers and fiat performers. Nominations close at 8 p.m. next Friday with the secretary, Mr. H. E. Dodd, Gisborne.
