Regatta Dance at Northcote is Successful
BRIGHT EVENING BALLOONS AND STREAMERS DECORATE HALL There was a large attendance of yachtsmen and their friends at the regatta dance and prize night of the Northcote and Birkenhead Club, held last evening in the Palais Theatre, Northcote. The theatre was gaily decorated with coloured streamers and balloons. During an interval the patron of the club, Captain 11. H. Sergeant, presented the prizes to the successful competitors at the club’s annual regatta. An excellent programme of dance music was played by the Merrymakers’ Orchestra. The duties of M.C.’s were fulfilled by Messrs. W. Couldrey and J. Taylor. The committee members present were:—Mrs. Couldrey, who wore navy floral ring velvet; Miss Dickson, eau de nil georgette and silver; Miss J. McGilp, black ring velvet with diamente trimming; Miss O’Reed, ankle length frock of sea green chiffon velvet; Miss R. Devlin, lilac satin beaute trimmed with pearls. Among those present were: Mrs. Davis, who wore blue satin; Mrs. A. McFetridge, pale pink ninon with blue velvet shoulder bow and diamente buckle; Mrs. R. Woods, cream bordered flowered taffeta; Mrs. P. Robb, lavender floral satin; Mrs. A. Tyer, green georgette, silver trimmings; Mrs. Hurley duck egg blue flowered taffeta: Mrs. w! Roberts, black lace and green shawl; Miss Fanny Brunton, pale green satin and floral trimmings; Mrs. R. Martin, red satin; Mrs. E. Bailey, black georgette, pleated frock; Mrs. 11. Hayman. cherry frock of embossed georgette; Mrs. F. Townsend, saxe blue floral georgette; Mrs. A. Clark, powder blue satin; Mrs. G. O Deary, nile green sequined frock: Mrs. G. Minns, black taffeta, relieved with royal blue; Mrs. Dowsing, apricot georgette and gold lace; Mrs. Des Kelly, ivorv satin; Miss Pat. De Clerc, nile green ankle length lace frock; Miss Dola Edwards. tangerine velvet and geoi'gette; Miss Phyllis Giles, coral georgette, silver lace hemline; Miss Dorrie Holmes, sage green floral satin; Miss M. Herrick, coral pink embossed crepe de chine; Miss Lorna Macfeay, ankle length frock of cream floral satin; Miss Woods, ivory lace ankle length frock.
