PAPATOETOE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Mr. 11. C. Ernest, president of the Papatoetoe Chamber of Commerce, presided over a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the chamber, held on Monday evening; when it was decided to make further representation to the Railway Department, urging the necessity of speeding up the running times of the trains, to enable the journey to be completed in half and hour. It was decided to suggest to the department the advisability of cutting down the stopping times of the trains at intermediate stops to enable the change to be made.
On the proposal of the chairman, it j was agreed to donate the sum of £5 1 to the Town Board, as a contribution | toward the cost of beautifying the trij angle at the junction of AVyllie and j Station Roads. j Tho president and Messrs. J. Jackj son, E. Q. Haddock and E.' AVaite were appointed delegates to meet representatives of the proposed Shopkeepers’ Association, to consider the ques- ! tion of amalgamation of the two organ- | isations, and it was decided to ask the ; Papatoetoe Welfare League to reconsider the question of representation at conference*. r , i „- » ——
