BEEF MARKET STEADY WESTFIELD STOCK SALE WEDNESDAY, 2.30 p.n>. An offering of 259 steers and 386 cows and heifers met with a steady demand at late rates at Westfield today. Best young ox made up to 38s a hundred, specially choice prime pens making a shade over in isolated instances; best young cow and heifer beef made up to 33s 6d a hundred. The ox beef offering was made up mostly of well-finished, medium-weigh: sorts, drawn from over a comparative]’ wide range, tho choicest quality lines coming from the Southern part of ib* province; a few lines from the far north did not look their best, severe hours off feed giving them a “tuckedup” appearance. A feature of today's sale was th activity of export operators; for sonu time now the. export parity has beewell below Westfield prices and exporters have not been able to buy prim 6 cattle. Today, however, one firm apparently had a small order to fill mtook several pens of light-weight cattk at around £lO to £l2 a head. Top price in the ox beef section was secured for a line of exceptionally choice prime steers on account H. E Reed, Waerenga. which made from £ls to £l6 for a pen which went to T. Raster, Ponsonby.

Extra well-finished, medium to hear; prime steers, on account the Waglani Estate, Te JCuiti, made from £l2 *s 6d to £ls ss.

Sixteen medium to heavy prim* steers, on account Trewin. Brothers. Marohemo, made £l3 37s 6d to £ls asOne truck of handy-weight bullocks on account J. R. Hill, Ohinewai, mad: £ll 2s 6d to £l4 12s 6d. One truck of choice prime steers, 02 account Fred Bregma n. Pukekohe made £l3 30s to £3 4 2s 6d.
