Following the announcement by the Governor-General that he and Lady Bledisloe were using clothes made from New Zealand produced and manufactured goods the president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Association said that there were already signs of a substantial turnover In local woollen goods, and that there was an increasing number of inquiries for locally made clothes. The manufacturers, he said, had good ground for hoping that the step taken by their Excellencies would not only immediately stimulate the inquiry for locally made goods, but also would increase the demand for Xew Zealand productions abroad.
