DETECTIVE BOARDS SHIP IN STREAM DEPORTEE FROM SYDNEY Deported from Sydney, having entered Australia within two years of serving a term of imprisonment in New Zealand, George Alexander Low was arrested when the Maunganui arrived in the stream this morning. He appeared in the Police Court and was remanded. Low, a labourer, aged 27, was charged with failing to comply with the terms of his release on probation at Wellington on February 7. He had gone to Australia within two years of serving a term in New Zealand, so was sent back immediately after liis discharge from the Sydney gaol. The remand was required so that it could be ascertained whether Low could be dealt with in Auckland. Detective-Sergeant McHugh boarded the Maunganui in the stream at 7.15 this morning and Low was found after a hasty search of the ship by the detective and a number of stewards. Low appeared on the passenger list as S. Griffen.
