NEW RECORD IN T.T. RESULT OF JUNIOR EVENT Reed. Noon. LONDON, Monday. The Junior Tourist trophy motorcycle race on the Isle of Man today was won by H. G. Tyrrell-Smith on a Rudge-Whitworth machine. G. K. Nott and Graham Walker, both on Rudge-Whitworth machines, were second and third. The winner’s average speed was 71.0 S miles an hour. The race was over a distance of 264 miles 300 yards. British supremacy was challenged by many foreign riders. The Tourist Trophy races are run in three sections over the same course at the Isle of Man, the junior race being restricted to machines with, engines of under 350 c.c. capacity. The light-weight event (250 c.c. limit) will be run tomorrow and the senior race (500 c.c. limit) on Friday. Percy Coleman is in England as New Zealand’s official representative for this latter contest. The winner’s speed of 71.08 m.p.li. constitutes a record for this class and is an increase of nearly one mile an hour of his time in the senior event last year, in which he filled third place.
