Reid, fitting superviser to Berlei. Ltd., Sydney, who has been loaned to the New Zealand company to organise and conduct the new Berlei School of Corsetry which was opened at the Hail of Industries yesterday afternoon by the Mayoress, Mrs. A. D. Campbell. More than SO women from all parts of the Dominion, some from as far South as Invercargill, are visiting Auckland this week to attend this school, of which Mrs. Reid is the principal, and which is the first of its kind to be held irt the Dominion. During the last three and a-half years, says Mrs. Reid, an anthropoinetrical survey of female figures has been taken in Australia and New Zealand. During this time over 7,000 women have been measured. In Australia this has been done by university graduates, B.A’s, and women doctors, under the direction of Professor Chapman, of the Sydney University, and It; New Zealand by Miss A. Levick, the Dominion demonstrator to Berlei. Ltd. From this survey it has been discovered that there are five distinct figure types, and these types and their variations will be discussed by Mrs. Reid at the school. Associated with Mrs. Reid as principals and lecturers and members of executive are Mrs. Stanley S. Scott, Miss Anne Levick, Dr. Douglas Robb, Mr. TV. S. Morrison, Mr. Rex Morre, and Mr. Sinclair Carruthers.
