ACCIDENT CONFERENCE
MOTOR TRAFFIC TRAGEDIES IN DOMINION SITTING IN WELLINGTON From Our ResideJit Reporter WELLINGTON, Today. A conference is being held in the Transport Department offices today to discuss the causes of the increase in motor accidents in New Zealand and the means necessary to prevent them. The conference is presided over by the Commissioner of Transport, Mr. J. S. Hunter, and representatives of interested bodies and Government departments are attending. The delegates to the conference are as follow: —Municipal Association. Mr. E. P. Norman, town clerk, Wellington; Counties’ Association, Mr. G. Meginnes, clerk, Paparua County Council; Master Carriers' Association, Mr. A. J. Curtis; North Island Motor Union, Messrs. L. A. Edwards and A. J. Toogood; South Island Motor Union, Messrs. P. R. Harman and J. S. Ha.wkes; Main Highways Board and Public Works Department, Mr. Tyndall; third-party motor insurance pool, Mr. R. Caughley; North Island Motor Union mutual insurance, Messrs. I. V. Wilson and C. R. C. Robieson; service-car proprietors, Mr. J. C. Gallagher; Railway Department, Mr. H. H. Sterling; Public Health Department, Dr. Watt; Government Statistician’s Office, Mr. Malcolm Fraser; Justice Department, Mr. Ward; Education Department, Mr. Benge. Representatives of the State Insurance Department and the Police and Transport Departments will also attend.
