Metropolitan Gun Club Season Opens
NEW GROUND USED STOL'PE WINS TROPHY The Metropolitan Gun Club opened its 1930-31 season, on its new ground. Favona Road. Otaliuhu. on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance qf members and visitors. In spite of the cold westerly that was blowing across the field, some excellent shooting was indulged in. In declaring the season open. Mr W. Parry. M.P.. congratulated the club on the splendid appointments on the new ground. He urged the club to purchase, as far as possible, all of its requirements within the Dominion, and thus help the country to turn the corner. In conclusion, he wished the club every success. The principal event of the day. the president's trophy, was wen by Mr. D. Stoupe, who shot the possible of 15 birds. Details of events are: Sweepstake, match of live bird?.—L. F. Ramsey. 14yds, IT. E. Knight. 14yds. 1. X. Gallic. 15yds. E. Wilson, llycs.. and 1 . Hazard, 13yds, shot the possible and divided the sweepstake. President’s Trophy, match of 15 birds. —T). Stoupe. 12yds, von the trophy out right with the possible. I>. Ilya uia sot;. 12yds, H. E. Knight. 14yds. and J. C. Whitney. 13yds. divided second money with 14' breaks each. Women’s Trophy, presented by Mr. Kay Stretton, for match of seven birds.— M. Delich. J. Murrell. J. C. Whitney, D. Hyauiason, J. Ramsey. C. Barrett, J. Gallic and J. Milne tied. In the reshoot, which was held in the dusk, E. Barrett, 12yds, won the trophy for Mrs. R. IT. Bartley: M. Delich. 13yds, and J. S. Whtney, 13yds. filled second and third positions respectively.
