Heavy head winds delayed the R.M.M.S. Aorangi on her journey from Suva and she did not reach Auckland until late last evening. The transpacific liner berthed this morning. A big English and American mail also arrived. Sir James Gunson has Uen on a business visit to California, but he had nothing to say last evening, except that the visit was a purely rersonat one. Lady Sheldon, wife oi Sir Mark Sheldon, is returning to Sydney after it visit to England and Europe. She is accompanied by her daughter. During the deck sports last week Miss Sheldon collided with another competitor, Miss Didsbury. and broke her nose. Lady Graham Moon, wife of the aide de camp to the Governor of Fiji, has arrived in Auckland on holiday. She is accompanied by her daughter. • * * Mr. A. Buchanan, solicitor, of Auckland, returned with Mrs. Buchanan after spending IS months abroad. During his stay in England he saw a good deal of yacht racing. Mr. and Mrs. E. Norton Grimwado. prominent Melbourne residents, are returning after a world tour. « * * Mr. W. L. Dendy, general manager of the Port Jackson Steam Ship Company, who has been on an extended trip abroad, is returning to Sydney. The Hon. J. E. Fenton, Minister of Trade and Customs in the Australian Commonwealth Government, is returning to Australia after representing the Comon wealth at the Naval Disarmament Conference in London. * * • Mrs. Agnes Arncy, a special writer for “The Register.’’ Des Moines, U.S.A.. is making a tour of the Pacific, Australia and the East. She will spend a short holiday in New Zealand before going on her Pacific tour. Mrs. Arney is writing a series of articles for her paper. * * * Mr. C. L. Kemp ton, C.8.K., general manager of Vocal:on, Limited, has arrived from England in connection with the firm’s activities. lie will spend some time in New Zealand before going on to Australia. * * ♦ Mis. L. Blomfield, formerly of Auckland, has returned on holday with her son and daughter. For some years Mrs. Blomlieid lias been doing publicity work for New Zealand in tho United States, giving illustrated talks to various clubs and women’s organisations.

During the voyage frc-m Vancouver, Mrs. Blomfield gave a lecture to the passengers, as a result of which several decided to leave the Aorangi at Auckland and tour the Dominion before going on to Australia.

Colonel Sir Charles Wright. C. 8., K.8.E., is chairman of Baldwin’s Limited, the big British steel and iron firm. He is paying a basine.ss v.eit to New Zealand and Australia in tie interests of the firm. Like many other huge British concerns, Baldwin’s Limit i. has decided on the policy of persons representatives of the firm visiting lieoverseas Dominions. Sir Charles visited the Dominion about five years ago. He is accompanied on this tr*p by Mr. V. A. I Llewelyn. * * • “The Mayor of Wellington. Mr G. Troup, is paying a week-end visit to Vancouver.” This is how the \ ancouver newspapers heralded the visit there of Mr. Troup, who went on a. health trip. He went up on the Aorangi and returned on her, spending a weekend in Vancouver and a few days in Seattle. _ Mr Troup's health has improve.* greatly as a result of the trip.
