THREE FIRE CALLS
CITY BRIGADE’S BUSY HOUR Three calls were answered by the City Fire Brigade within an hour last evening. One fire was in the attic of a house in Grey’s Avenue: another was a burning motor-truck at the corner of Symonds Street and East ■ Street; and the third call was a false alarm. The attic of an unoccupied house , at 34 Grey’s Avenue was damaged by ! fire which broke out at 7.35 p.m. The j brigade prevented the flames from spreading. Air. W. L. Wilson, super- : intendent of the brigade, said that j someone had evidently been using the | | house, though it had been empty for j six months. The back door had been : open when the brigade arrived, and j !it had appeared that someone had ! been there recently. | The motor-truck that was burning i was at the premises of Bouskill. Ltd., 1 : and received damage to the canopy j and body before the fire was extin- \ guished by the use of chemicals. . While one engine was still at the j Grey’s Avenue outbreak, a false ;_larn ,of fire was sent from a street alarm i at the corner ol Symonu« Street ai. i [ Airedale Street.
